this last semester i embarked on having a show at my uni radio station!

our system is supa old, we no longer use CDs like they did in the late 90s but its a very janky and dated program that stores a database of mp3s. 

lucky for me there is noooo issue with that cuz im a mp3 hoarder! and it makes me feel kinda superior to stations that use spotify for their broadcasts ha ha (sorry to my friend whos a DJ at his uni and does that heh) 

its name is gandalf

being a DJ for a couple months was a fun experience, i wish i had more time to get more involved with the station and do more than just come in for my show though. this semester was just so stacked against me ugh -_- but im glad i got brave enough and finally did it! ill try to attend zine nights this coming semester.

i originally wanted to do stats and complicated shit, but i realized this is my blog and i can do anything i want so im just gonna archive my setlists. maybe we can both discover patterns together..

the concept i was going for is myspace-y, either heavy music with electronic elements or electronic/dance focused bands and i typically highlighted the bands actually starting on myspace. u will get a feel for it when u see how many times i freaking played ISMFOF

some extra details: this isnt covering ALL my shows, just the ones i happened to capture the song lists of. my first 2 shows i had no idea what i was doing and panic played my songs but never thought to take a pic. by the third time i realized planning my show in advance is wayyy easier

this was the first time i properly planned the songs i would play. this show was the week i saw your arms are my cocoon so i announced it on air!!!!!

october 15 

this week i had some more songs i liked uploaded to the database. my show ran thru 5pm so when most ppl were in their cars listening, i wanted to play songs that more people would hear (bc im spreading propaganda)

look how composed this one is... i separated off a section for "filler songs" if the songs i wanted to play werent enough

november 12

this show i kinda focused a lot on good transitions especially since i played more electronic stuff

november 19 

this was a majority electronic show but i didn't plan it ahead bc i was talking to my fellow DJ before the show started. i wrote it out after my show ended from the queue history but the only thing i wrote during my show was the songs i REALLY wanted to play

december 3 (last show!!)

this was my most perfectly planned show because with the setlist and my talking segments i had music up to the very last second of my show slot! i literally played like every song i always play (electronic focus) but i did work hard on creating good transitions in this one..

and thats all my shows!
