my first time seeing DJs i really admire!!! technically, my first actual concert?

the seventh of february was a big day in the making. for one, i was about to open a new chapter of my life as the first day of my accounting internship was about to begin. also, that night i had tickets to see...TINZO AND JOJO!!! i bought these tickets in a feverish impulse on a random night where i was coming down with a cold. thanks to ticketmaster being ridiculous (or can i not read?) i accidentally got insurance for the tickets which cost way too much and at that point i didn't want the hassle of refunding the ticket since i didn't even know if i'd go. but i decided i'll go.

to preface: i have NO photo evidence of this event happening. if you're unfamiliar with tinzo + jojo or the book club radio, take a look at the libarian's manifesto:

my first shift was after classes from 1:00 to 5:00 (btw i have 8ams, so i woke up at 6), and had to drive down to dc which would take 3 hours, then i'd have to get in line for the show which opened it's doors at 10:00. the real challenge was if i'd make it! both physically, and you know, health-wise. 

i literally wore part of my outfit for the night under my business casual, that way i'd spend less time getting ready before i left. however, my workday ended quickly as the entire shift was getting me set up with the IT guy, which remains one of the most tedious things to do at work. 

i got home, got ready, grabbed my nightbag and had to book it to the club to see one of my favorite DJ acts! 

once i got to my room for the night, i touched up my hair and makeup. the theme of the show was dial up internet and 90s rave, but i couldn't come up with a great outfit to represent it. after all i was facing midterms soon and with my new job, i didn't have much time. i put on pink tights to channel perfume and tied up my hair into space buns. (spoiler: EVERY bitch in the building had space buns........)

i parked and walked an extremely arctic walk (i think it was below freezing) to the club. it was my first time using ticketmaster so i was confused but i showed my virtual ticket to the bouncer. it didn't scan...

turns out i showed up at the wrong venue (curse dc clubs, they're all connected, iykyk) so i went a few more blocks to the correct one. got a physical ticket which is awesome. 

upon entering, they gave us stickers to put over our back cameras as per tinzo + jojo's rule to live in the FUCKING moment. no phones on the dancefloor under any circumstance! and that rule i did follow ~

after the show ended, i took the sticker and put it on the back of my blue mp3 player

before the show jojo walked by me and i dont know if we made eye contact but it was kind of embarrassing. he's actually shorter than i thought in person. ha! same with tinzo. they both looked so cool up behind the decks, they were totally in their element. i couldn't help but participate in idolatry just a little, even though the librarian's manifesto says to not face the dj. jojo was eating goldfish straight from the bag. 

i didn't socialize as much as id hoped. i was dancing near one guy who asked if i had seen them on youtube, to which i replied yes (why else would i be here) and he seemed nice. i left the dancefloor at some point for some water, which meant i lost my totally awesome spot near the front. i tried to worm my way back in by the guy i spoke to earlier, but it was seriously impossible. i fared it was fine, since i'd be protecting my eardrums a little better. i stayed in the center of the crowd since it was the only place i could actually fit and dance in without hitting people.

after a while i left again to check out the balcony which was radiant!! watching everyone's heads bobbing up and down on the dancefloor was really fun, and people on the balcony were having parties of their own. a few people had glowing spinny objects and flags and glasses and were doing light shows for a few others. i took my time to worship tinzo + jojo just a little more (sorry!) before calling it a night around 1:30am. 

i passed out so hard at my hotel, feeling super euphoric after such an incredible show!! i couldn't even process that i saw tinzo and jojo in the flesh, it still feels unreal, like i know they're real people but this was my first time intentionally going to see people i admired, i couldn't help but be in awe the whole time. they played lots of classic house & dance with all the pianos and female vocalists reverberating through the crowd and it was just so cool like omfg.. the lights remained the same shade of teal the entire night with the occasional strobe. it was a gorgeous sea of PEARL AQUA BLUE (lol)

overall this is a night i will never forget!! even though i had to be up for 21 hours it was so worth it!! i'd love to catch tinzo and jojo another time in the city. maybe once i take a trip to new york ~~~
